Attributed to Gillis ROMBOUTS (1630 - 1672) View of the market place in Haarlem Panel, three boards, reinforced, monogrammed and dated lower right "PPP..." 84,5 x 113,5 cm (Minor damages and cracks) The place depicted is the market place, the "Grote Markt", with the St. Bavo church and the town hall (Stadhuis) whose facade was made by Lieven de Key in the early 17th century. We will compare our panel with views of the same place by Gillis Rombouts, including several versions of "The Announcement of the Munster Peace Treaty of 1648 at the Haarlem City Hall" (Cape Town, Michaelis Collection and another on the Dutch art market in 2019). A related composition by Cornelis Beelt (1640-1702) is in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. Expert Cabinet Turquin, Stéphane Pinta
