Amsterdam, Arkstée & Merkus, 1754. 3 vols. in-4, [3] f., lxiv, 502 p. ; vi, 579 p. ; [2] f., 617 p., 142 p., marbled fawn basane, spine gilt with spider's web. First edition of the French translation by P. J. Grosley and Abbé Mallet, illustrated with beautiful vignettes engraved after Charles Eisen (1720-1778) by Noël Le Mire (1724-1801). Sideslip and rubbing to the binding, small leather tears to volume III, one leaf of the table of contents detached from volume III, some foxing and other minor defects.
