148. HIROSHIGE. The Fifty-three Stations of the Tkaid. Oblong accordion album, mid-twentieth century.colour reprint of the prints of the famous Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), a work that had a lasting influence on Western art in general, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Gustav Klimt and Vincent van Gogh in particular. The prints are mounted on a double-sided accordion-folded support and bound in illustrated cloth boards in a green-bronze damask silk case with a bone and strap clasp. Case and binding rubbed with slight tears, compositions captioned by hand in the margin, other minor defects.
