Published according to the manuscripts by Montaignon. Paris, printed by F. Didot for Edwin Tross, 1856. In-8, publisher's binding in fir green percaline, smooth spine decorated with 2 fleurons surrounding the long gilt title. Cold decorated boards with gilt title in a central medallion. Beautiful edition on Holland laid paper. Text in Latin and French in a frame of macabre scenes. Letters borrowed from Hans Holbein. Few freckles.
