Binding signed by Engel, red cloth stamped with a black and gold decoration. Upper board richly decorated with a gilt plaque by Souze. Gilded vignettes depicting a lion, a tiger, a rhinoceros, a python, scenes of travel in a dugout canoe or a boarding scene on a background of exotic foliage and axes, assegais and quivers. Spine very decorated with an elephant. All edges gilt. Very fresh binding. Significant foxing inside. RICARD (Mgr). Christophe Colomb. Tours, Mame, 1894. Red cloth publisher's cardboard. Spine and upper board illustrated with a plate designed and engraved by Souze. Rich polychrome decoration in blue, black, gold and silver. All edges gilt. A fine copy but with interior foxing. CERVANTES (Miguel de). Don Quixote de la Mancha. Tours, A. Mame, s.d. (circa 1900). Red cloth boards with black and gold decoration. Upper board richly decorated with a gilt plate with a history. Don Quixote and Sancho Pansa on their mount consider the dark silhouettes of an army of windmills against a desert landscape. Inside hinges of first board broken. WISEMAN (Card.).
