312. LOUARD (Robert, ill.) & PRIEUR (Albert-P.). Les Barbero - Lot 312
312. LOUARD (Robert, ill.) & PRIEUR (Albert-P.). Les Barberousse, corsairs and kings of Algiers. Paris, Editions Arc-en-ciel, 1943. Paperback with filled cover, folder and case, 30 x 24 cm. Edition limited to 1925 copies, this one being supposedly one of the 11 copies on arches but the numbering has obviously been scratched. It is in fact an ex. on M. L. C. d'Annonay laid paper, unknown at the justification, enriched with the original drawing of a lettering and the original drawing of a composition in the text. This story of the Barbarossa privateer brothers from the island of Lesbos, converted to Islam and historical figures of North Africa and Algeria at the end of the 15th century, is illustrated with 24 original compositions by Robert Louard. Attached: LAJOUX (Edmond, ill.) & MAC ORLAN (Pierre). The "Africans", the picturesque and sentimental life of the French army. Paris, Guilhot, 1944. In sheets, in a filled cover, folder and case, 35 x 27 cm. First edition written, illustrated and implemented during the German occupation according to a mention of the publisher. Limited edition of 1021 copies, this one being one of the number of the main edition on vellum of Rives pur fil. The text by Mac Orlan is illustrated with 20 plates of military costumes by Edmond Lajoux and numerous compositions in the text colored with stencil and enhanced with gouache. Case partly deteriorated.
