406. VACHER DE BOISVILLE (Jean Numa Dast). Armorial bordelai - Lot 406
406. VACHER DE BOISVILLE (Jean Numa Dast). Armorial bordelais. Bordeaux, 1899. 567 f., red half-chagrin, gilt title. Manuscript copy of the Bordeaux armorial by Vacher de Boisville, which has remained unpublished to this day. It contains 5038 heraldic descriptions. Jean-Numa Dast le Vacher de Boisville (1868-1899) had undertaken to establish an armorial of the families of Bordeaux from a long and tedious examination of municipal and departmental archives. The manuscript was to be printed by the Archaeological Society of Bordeaux at the time of his death on November 24, 1899. The publication was cancelled. According to an added handwritten note, the original was in the possession of Louis Robert de Beauchamp (1896-1981) and the present copy was executed by Anne Tenet, née Le Vacher de Boisville, and given by Pierre Robert de Beauchamp to his other son Ferdinand (1902-1974). On the reverse side of the plate, the armorial bookplate, engraved and printed on laid paper, of Pierre Robert de Beauchamp (1861-1946), a friend of Le Vacher de Boisville and himself an amateur herald.
