SEVRES Imperial Manufacture, Service of Napoleon,
Compotier round foot, with dolphins in porcelain pedestal decorated with four golden dolphins in cookie. The wing of the basin with red background is decorated with a frieze of gold foliage between gold nets, the outer face with blue background agate and gold nets. Large gold net on the edge of the base.
Marked in red with the stamp " de Sèvres 1809 " under the heel. Handwritten inscription in black under the heel " This porcelain was used for a long time for the lunch of the Emperor Napoleon I " and " Homage to ... ". (illegible).
Early 19th century, dated 1809
Part of the stamped mark scratched above. Incised cross under the heel. A chip on the base. Chipping in the gold fillet at the edge of the heel and wear inside the compotier.

Cf: This fruit bowl is part of the "Service de dessert marli rouge couronne de fleurs sur fond or papillons" intended for the castle of Compiègne but delivered between October 7, 8 and 18, 1809 for Napoleon at Fontainebleau. This service which included 8 compotiers with dolphin foot. It probably accompanied the Emperor during his exile on the island of Elba in April 1814, as it is absent from an inventory drawn up after his departure.

Examples of similar inspiration
-A compotier of the same decoration is preserved in the National Museum of the Castle of Fontainebleau (inv. F2013.7).
-Part of the service "red marli crown of flowers on gold butterfly background" that belonged to the Rockefeller collection was sold by Christie's in New York on May 9, 2018 (lot 118).
