Auguste POINTELIN (1839 -1933) - Lot 256
Auguste POINTELIN (1839 -1933) Landscape Oil on canvas, signed lower right 57,5 x 79 cm (Restorations) Like these uninhabited spaces which are always painted from memory, freed from detail and the ephemeral, Pointelin's art, is more and more stripped. Eliminating more and more any accident to stick to the eternity of the ground, to the undulations of the land, cut by rare verticals, Pointelin wants the main interest of the painting to reside in a dialogue in a low voice: that of the earth and the sky. Here, of all the lines, the most pathetic is always the horizon line. Claude Roger-Marx In : La Nouvelle Revue française, 1933
