The text by Antoine Bertin (1752-1790) is illustrated with 2 engraved frontispieces by Charles Monnet (1732-1819). The first volume contains the Voyage de Bourgogne written in La Réunion for the chevalier de Parny. Spines worn, corners dulled, other minor defects.
Attached : LESAGE (Alain-René). Histoire de Gil Blas de Santillane. Paris, T.-P. Bertin, Year VI (1798). 6 volumes in-12, marbled fawn calf, smooth spine decorated, title and appendices.
The picaresque novel by Alain-René Lesage is illustrated with a frontispiece after Angelica Kauffman (1741-1807) and 6 plates out of text by Étienne-Joseph Chaillou. Minor foxing.
