21. BRILLAT-SAVARIN (Jean Anthelme) & BERTALL (pseud.). Physiology of taste. Paris, Furne, 1864. Gd in-8, [2] f., 459 p., blue half-maroquin with corners, spine with false-nerves decorated, gilt fillets on the spines. A fine copy of the famous gastronomic essay by Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), with an introduction by Alphonse Karr and illustrated with compositions in the text and out-of-text by Bertall (1820-1882).
Spine slightly oiled, some freckles.
Attached : MICHELET (Jules) & GIACOMELLI (Hector). L'Oiseau. Paris, L. Hachette, 1867. Gd in-8, [4] f., 424 p., black half-chagrin, spine decorated, gilt edges (Vigneau et Pasquier). Again, a fine copy of Michelet's Bird illustrated with in and out of text compositions by Giacomelli (1822-1904). One dull corner, wet stamp on one endpaper and the false title, handwritten bookplate on the title page, the other defects are minor.
