(privilege), 694 p., pl., brown basane, spine with ornamented nerves. work of the historian Denys d'Halicarnasse, contemporary of the first century B.C., particularly important for the first centuries of the Roman Empire, and illustrated with 8 folded maps.
Bindings slightly rubbed, corners dulled, the second volume has been exposed to moisture, has retained a trace of fungus in the lower margin and some minor defects.
Three other quarto volumes with plates are enclosed, one of which bears the arms of Cardinal Mazarin:
BOILEAU (Nicolas). [Paris, Esprit Billiot, 1713 (?)]. In-4 brown basane with the arms of Cardinal Mazarin (OHR 1529-4) and illustrated with 6 full page engravings by Gillot. Binding rubbed, one headband missing, corners trimmed, frontispiece and title page missing, worm bite on last few leaves, other minor defects.
