Paris, Jouaust (Librairie des bibliophiles), 1884. 3 volumes in-8, vi, 270 p., [1] f.; 294 p., [1] f.; 293 p., [1] f., blue half-chagrin with smooth spine decorated, gilt heads, covers preserved (S. Petit). Limited edition of 200 unnumbered copies, this one of the 100 copies on Hollande vellum, in a binding signed by Petit (Bazas). The famous picaresque adventures of a penniless nobleman engaged in a troupe of actors are illustrated, in this beautiful edition, with a remarkable portrait of Théophile Gautier by Augustin Mongin (1843-1911) and 14 plates outside the text under serpents by Charles-Edouard Delort (1841-1895). Two small white spots on the binding of volume II, defect in the margins of the first leaves of volume III (small marginal reliefs with halo), the other defects are minor.
