Tonson, 1719-1720. in-4, [3] f., 291 p., [5] p., xi, 157 p., [11] p., [4] p., 289 p., [6] p., v, 86 p., pl, tan calf, spine ornamented, triple gilt fillet on covers. unusual numismatic work, well illustrated with engravings in the text and plates, one of which is folded, and the first serious study of ancient coins preserved in England, by Nicola Francesco Haym (1678-1729), cellist, librettist, composer and collaborator of Handel. Surprised by death, Haym could not continue his work which he wanted to pursue with the engraved stones, statues and antiquities of England.
Binding a little rubbed, one bit split, corners worn, headband removed, small lack of leather in the last box, other minor defects.
