86. LEROY (Alphonse). Maternal medicine, or the art of raising and preserving children. Paris, Méquignon, An XI (1803). In-8, xxiv, 442 p., [1] f. (errata), marbled fawn basane, richly decorated smooth spine. First edition of this pediatric work by Alphonse Leroy (1742-1816) illustrated with an allegorical frontispiece after Étienne Gois (1731-1823) where, in the background, a bad mother cries for her dead child under the bust of Jean-Jacques Rousseau while in the foreground a good mother takes care of her two children.
