254. JOUAS (Charles, ill.), HUYSMANS (Joris-Karl). Three churches. Paris, R. Kieffer, 1920. In-4, 163 p., [2] f., illustrated with 42 plates and enriched with an original drawing by Charles Jouas. Beautiful binding (not signed) in havana morocco with large ribs, titled in gold. Gilt head, other edges not trimmed, triple gilt fillet bordering the back covers. First illustrated edition. It is decorated with 21 original etchings by Charles Jouas and a suite with remarks. It is enriched with a color drawing by Charles Jouas, captioned by hand, dated 1918 and signed, representing a sculpture of the north porch : Marc taillant sa vigne. The text is printed in Simon Vostre's gothic typeface and set in various architectural frames, such as porticos or gothic windows printed in green gray. Edition at 260 copies, this one of the 20 on vellum with 2 states of the engravings. The 3 churches celebrated by Huysmans and Jouas are Notre-Dame, Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois and Saint-Merry.
