Set of 6 original, unsigned pencil drawings, attributed to painter Eugène Vergez (1848-1926) and executed from life to illustrate Bordeaux et ses vins by Édouard Féret, the famous Cocks & Féret guide - Château Morin à St Estèphe, M. Alibert. s.d. (between 1872 and 1890). Original pencil drawing, 29.5 x 23 cm. This view of Château Morin from the road bordering the vineyard has been faithfully published. - Château Ladouys in St Estèphe, M. Barre. n.d. (between 1872 and 1890). Original pencil drawing, 30 x 23 cm. This view of Château Ladouys in Saint Estèphe from the vineyard has been published, the engraver having added windows to the outbuildings that do not exist in the original drawing. - Château Victoria à Vertheuil, M. Gibiat. n.d. (between 1872 and 1890). Original pencil drawing, 30 x 23 cm. This view of the Château Victoria from the central alley was engraved and published with good fidelity on this original. - Château de Vertheuil, M. A. Mondon. n.d. (between 1872 and 1890). Original pencil drawing, 31.5 x 24 cm. This view taken from below the château de Vertheuil in the Médoc does not appear to have been published. Small marginal tears. - Château du Breuil. n.d. (between 1872 and 1890). Original pencil drawing, 30 x 23 cm. This view of the Château du Breuil in Cissac-Médoc was the subject of a rough engraving that the engraver attempted to animate with a walker and his dog in the foreground. The original drawing retains the romantic majesty of the setting. Numerous brown spots. - Château d'Escot in Lesparre. n.d. (between 1872 and 1890). Original pencil drawing, 30 x 23 cm. This view of Château d'Escot from the entrance to the park was engraved. The original drawing is remarkable for its balance and the care taken in depicting the foliage and cast shadows. Vergez seems to have found a real artistic interest in the subject. Some brown spots.
