26. GUIFFREY (Jules), MÜNTZ (Eugène), PINCHART (Alexandre). - Lot 26
26. GUIFFREY (Jules), MÜNTZ (Eugène), PINCHART (Alexandre). Histoire générale de la tapisserie. Paris, Société Anonyme de Publications Périodiques, 1878. 2 large folio volumes, 159 p., 50 pl. ; 100 p., 30 p., [1] f. ; 130 p. [2] f., 55 pl. Bound in brown half-chagrin, ribbed spine. Volume 1 is devoted to French tapestry, covering the specificities of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the 17th to 19th centuries. A chapter covers the various regional workshops, some of which are little-known, such as Cadillac in Gironde, which produced tapestries in the 17th century. The second volume is dedicated to the study of Italian, German, English, Danish, Spanish and Russian tapestries, as well as Flemish tapestries. This reference work on the subject is illustrated with 105 original photoglyphs, laminated on cardboard and mounted on tabs. The title page of the first volume is missing, and the title page of the second volume is present but bound in the wrong place. A few small epidermal marks on the leather, nothing significant, and some foxing.
