28. HAUTESERRE (Antoine Dadin d'). De Ducibus, et comitibus - Lot 28
28. HAUTESERRE (Antoine Dadin d'). De Ducibus, et comitibus provincialibus galliae libri tres. Toulouse, A. Colomerius, 1643. In-4, [5] f., 336 p., [29] f., brown basane, ornate ribbed spine. First edition of this important historical work by Antoine d'Hauteserre (1602-1682) on the provincial dukes and counts of Gaul, in which he shows, not without political intent, that the prerogatives of the feudal aristocracy are founded solely on usurpation. "Antoine d'Hauteserre's works are astonishing for their diversity and the breadth of their erudition", says Jacques Poumarède. Binding rubbed, split ends, headbands worn, marginal worm bites. (Dic. his. jur. fr., 398).
