88. BIDET (Nicolas).
Paris, Savoye, 1759. 2 volumes in-12, xxiv, 534 p., [1] f. ; [4] f., 304 p., marbled fawn basane, ornate ribbed spine. "This second edition is so enlarged that it is almost a new book. It is one of the most important works on viticulture of the 18th century, written under the supervision and with the notes of Duhamel du Monceau", says Oberlé. The text by Nicolas Bidet (1709-1782), agronomist and officer in the King's household, and later sommelier to Queen Marie-Antoinette, and Henri-Louis Duhamel du Monceau (1700-1782) is illustrated with 15 plates and a folded table. Working copy in poor condition: bindings badly damaged, part of one plate missing, worm holes on another plate, numerous minor defects. This lot, in free consultation at the time of the visit, is offered as is: no claims will be accepted. (Vicaire, 93; Oberlé, 91; Simon, 52).
