101. BULLIARD (Pierre). Flora Parisiensis, ou descriptions e - Lot 101
101. BULLIARD (Pierre). Paris, P. F. Didot, 1778-1780. 6 vols. In-8, marbled fawn basane, ornate ribbed spine (period binding).
Set of the last 6 volumes containing classes 6 to 24, mushrooms and a table (the first two volumes are missing for a complete set). Remarkable work by naturalist Pierre Bulliard (1752-1793), who provided precise, illustrated descriptions of numerous plant species growing in the Paris region, greatly enriching botanical knowledge in his day. The 470 carefully colored plates accompanying the descriptions in the present copy are of high artistic and scientific quality, allowing easy identification of species (the first two volumes contain the 170 missing plates).
Bindings slightly rubbed, plates numbered by hand, minor defects.
(Plesch, 163; Nissen, 295; Pritzel, 1953).
