Baillière, 1829-1835. 9 vols. in-8, [2] p., 482 p., 3 pl. ; [1] f., 544 p., 2 pl. ; 495 p., viii ; 708 p., [1] f. ; 599 p., [18] f., 1 pl. ; 747 p. ; 758 p. ; 355 p., 66 p., 7 pl. ; 477 p., grained basane, ornate smooth spine, fawn title and greevel pages, gilt lace frame on covers. First edition of Jourdan's French translation of Berzelius's Traité de chimie, illustrated with folded plates, and to which was appended a ninth volume bound in the same style, La Théorie des proportions chimiques in its second French edition. The Traité de chimie consists of Chimie minérale (4 vols.), Chimie organique (3 vols.) and Opérations et appareils chimiques (1 vol.). Copy in generally average condition: spines rubbed and gilt faded, headpieces worn, jaws split, corners dulled, slight loss of leather, small section of blank paper hollowed out on several title pages, foxing and other minor defects.
