222. KING (Jessie Marion). Set of 6 works illustrated by her. Jessie M. King (1875-1949) studied and taught at the famous Glasgow School of Art in the late 19th century. This multi-disciplinary Scottish artist first made a name for herself with her illustrative graphic line, but strongly influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, she also created lines for fabrics, wallpaper, jewelry, silverware and ceramics for the Liberty Company in London. - WILDE (Oscar). A House of Pomegranates. London, Methuen, 1915. Publisher's blue cloth boards, stamped with ochre decoration. Frontispiece and 16 color illustrations pastedown. The illustrated endpapers and historiated lettering are also in the artist's hand. This is the sixth edition of Wilde's work, but the first illustrated by Jessie M. King. The blue cloth spine has been changed and bears no title, the cloth of the boards is slightly faded.Mouillure in the lower margin of a few pages, some foxing. - SPENCER. Poems of Spencer, selected and with an introduction by W. B. Yeats. Edinburgh, T.C. & E.C. Jack, s.d (1906). Publisher's purple cloth boards, stamped with gilt decoration. The frontispiece and title vignette are by A.S. Hartrick, and the 8 black plates, enhanced with gold and red, are by Jessie M. King. This is the first edition illustrated by the artist, and precedes the English edition published by Caxton, which is found more frequently. Paper slightly browned on title and frontispiece. Constable, 1911. Small booklet illustrated with frontispiece, illustrated title and 4 plates by Jessie King. - KEATS (John). Isabella or the pot of basil. Edinburgh and London, T.N. Foulis, 1907. Small booklet illustrated with frontispiece, illustrated title and 4 plates by Jessie King. - Also included is the 1914 volume (volume sixty) of The studio, an illustrated Magazine of fine art. Publisher's bradel binding, titled ochre cloth. The volume contains the Christmas supplement for 1913, a picture story entitled Seven Happy Days, which runs to 16 pages entirely illustrated by Jessie M. King, in color with gold and silver highlights.
