In-4, publisher's illustrated boards, blue cloth stamped with a historiated gilt iron, richly decorated spine, illustrated endpapers. English edition, illustrated with numerous vignettes in black or green and 15 off-text color illustrations mounted on captioned serpents. First edition of the current print run, after 1000 copies. Exquisite illustration for this tragic tale. Endpapers browned. Lower corners rubbed, covers rubbed. - LAMB (Charles & Mary), SHAKESPEARE (William). Tales from Shakespeare. London, J.M. Dent ; New-York, E.P.Dutton, 1909. Publisher's red cloth boards, upper board and spine decorated with historiated gilt plates. Illustrated with color plates and drawings in the text. Shakespeare's plays were adapted into stories by C. & M. Lamb. The first edition dates from 1899, but in this new edition, Rackham has colorized the drawings from the previous version and added a few illustrations.
