Head of the magazine collection, four volumes per year, here bound in a full year for 1833 & 1834. This journal, written by a group of journalists and edited by Jean-Baptiste Paya, was conceived in the context of the intellectual decentralization of the period. It acquired an excellent reputation, making it known to all French literary and scientific scholars. See the long entry in Le Maitron.
"Her publishing catalog, comprising some 160 titles published between 1832 and 1843, reflects the period's desire to rediscover the "genius" of the South and to become independent of Parisian thought. Toulouse owes him the Revue du Midi and the Mosaïque du Midi, among others", argues Isabelle Privat in her thesis entitled Jean Baptiste, Charles Paya (1807-1865), Éditeur et journaliste à Toulouse et Paris, éveilleur de conscience.
A good copy with very white paper, very rare foxing. The first 8 leaves of Volume 2 of the first year are missing. Binding slightly rubbed.

Volume 1 (year 1837-1838) and volume 6 (year 1842) bound in 1 volume in-4, contemporary half-fauwn basane binding, smooth spine decorated. Illustrated with numerous engravings in the text. Binding rubbed, foxing, stains, interior wetness.
