314. SOUCHET (Etienne) Coutume d'Angoumois, commentée et con - Lot 314
First edition of the best-known work by Etienne Souchet (1731-1824), a lawyer at the Angoulême presidial, in which he restores order and method to custom, denigrating any legal weight to usage described as "the science of ill-educated patricians or stubborn villagers". Binding a little rubbed with broad spotting, corners dulled, a few marginal wormholes and a worm gallery with damage to the text on pages 259 to 334, other minor defects. (Dic. his. jur. fr., 720).
