Cabinet and base richly decorated with red-tinted tortoiseshell (in paintings) in frames of pewter fillets with umbilicals on an ebony background; the centrally recessed front opens with a leaf decorated with architectural colonnades, a niche housing a bas-relief of Hercules overcoming the centaur Nessus, and a compartment with drawers; on either side are four narrow drawers; the drop-leaf base rests on six baluster feet joined by a circumferential brace. The sides are inlaid with wood veneer in a wide diamond pattern.
