Followed by Le cheval de guerre (1855) 63 p. Paris, Hachette. 3 works in-16 by General Daumas bound later in 1 volume half red basane, spine decorated with 4 sautéed nerves, covers preserved. A handwritten note on a blank sheet indicates: these 3 small books belonged to my maternal grandfather, Jean Basset, passionate horseman, officer of the army of Algeria having served under the orders of General Daumas. He was very fond of these 3 very interesting books and my mother kept them preciously. I had them bound in Bordeaux in 1955. - AMBERT (Joachim). Historical, psychological and critical sketches of the French army. Saumur, A. Degouy, 1837. 2 vol. in-8 decorated with 16 lithographs. Half tan basane, smooth spine decorated. Second edition. Binding rubbed, headbands damaged, 2 departures of jaws cracked. Freckles, browned plates.
