93. [PONCELIN de LA ROCHE-TILHAC (Jean-Charles). Le procès de Louis XVI, ou Collection complète, des opinions, discourses et mémoires des membres de la Convention nationale. Paris, Debarle, 1795. 9 volumes in 7 vols. in-8: 2-480, [1] f. - 454 p.-[1] f., [1]f.-417 p., [1]f. -370 p.-[1]f., [1]f.-179 p. -[1] p., [2] f.-395 p., [1] f.-253 p.-[1] p., [1]f.-246 p., [1] f.-360 p. Slightly later binding, half tan basane, smooth spines decorated with gilt fillets and fleurons. Title and tomaison in gold. First edition of this rare work. One of the most precious collections on the trial of Louis XVI, guillotined in January 1793, as it was published shortly after the facts under the direction of Jean-Charles Poncelin de La Roche-Tilhac (1746-1828). Printer, bookseller and journalist, the author was at first in favor of the revolution. His change of opinion earned him prosecution. He was finally banned from journalism in 1799. Volumes I to V are entitled "opinions" of the conventioneers, volumes VI to IX are devoted to supporting documents. Volume VIII should contain a table which is not present in this copy. Volume 1 is missing 4 leaves replaced by blank ones. A small marginal gallery in volume 9 on about ten leaves. Some browned leaves. A good copy, however, in an old binding, of a capital work on this historical period, and which is difficult to find complete with all its volumes. (Cioranescu, 50993; absent from Monglond)
