D'albret was a member of several agricultural societies and head gardener of the school of agriculture and fruit trees, for 32 years, at the Jardin des plantes. Ninth edition much enlarged. The work deals with the nomenclature of eyes, buds, shoots and branches; the balance of vegetation; preparatory operations; various modern prunings, especially on grapevines or stone or seed fruits; ancient and heterogeneous prunings; some insects or diseases; grafting. Binding worn, without covers, leather missing, corners dull. The gardeners' chronicle, a weekly illustrated journal of horticulture and allied subjects. London, Gardeners' chronicle, 1875. 1 volume in-folio, containing the first semester of 1875 or 836 pages. Brown half-basecloth with corners, spine with ornamented nerves. Title and date pieces. Numerous botanical engravings in the text. Illustrated advertisements presenting machines, tools, greenhouses, etc. This gardening magazine was first published in 1874 and until 1955. Binding rubbed, spotting, cracked jaws, corners dulled. Fresh interior.
