182. [THIERS (Jean-Baptiste). La Guerre séraphique, ou histoire des périls qu'a courus la barbe des capucins par les violentes attaques des cordeliers. The Hague, Pierre de Hondt, 1740. In-12, fawn calf, spine decorated with a rhombus iron surmounted by a crown and an iron with a crowned ermine, p.d.t. First edition of the Guerre séraphique, followed by a dissertation on the inscription of the great portal of the convent of the Cordeliers of Rheims by the same author, which had already appeared in the 17th century. Joints cracked, upper coif. acc.

Poem of S. Prosper against the ungrateful, translated into verse and prose.
Paris, Desprez et Desessartz, 1726. In 12 bound in contemporary fawn glazed calf, spine ribbed and decorated, gilt edges. New edition in which one added the excellent letter of the same saint to Ruffin with a summary of all his doctrine concerning the Grace and the free will, drawn from his other works.
Prosper joins Saint Augustine in his fight against the ungrateful, the Pelagians, who had another conception of free will. Binding slightly rubbed.
