Contemporary vellum on which has been pasted a brown basane spine, decorated and titled. First edition without the title-frontispiece but with its title page and the double-page plate divided into XXII tables illustrating the different tortures. It is about the kingdoms and cities of Algiers, Tunis, Salé and Tripoly. (Gay, 423) Attached : ABULCACIM TARIFF ABENTARIQ. History of the Conquest of Spain by the Mores by Abulcacim Tarriff Aben Tariq of the city of Medina translated into Spanish by Michel de Luna of the city of Granada. Paris, Louis Billaine, 1680. 2 vol. in-12, contemporary basane. Without the 2 folded maps of the states of the kingdom of Fez. Same edition for the 2 volumes but slightly different bindings. The account by Luna, known for his knowledge of Arabic and translator for Philip II of Spain, was originally published in 1592. He defends the Arabic culture in Spain against the previous Visigothic rulers.
