British sextant by "Heath & Co New Eltham, London" type R 86 early 20th century. Manufactured for the English market by the British firm Heath & Co, London, in patinated brass with brass and silver-plated brass limb, this sextant, complete with large and small mirror, filters, sighting telescope and vernier reading magnifier. This is a fine quality navigation device. The brass and silver plating show signs of use, surface corrosion and oxidation. Normal condition to be restored or preserved. The sextant is in its mahogany storage box with its receipt label from the Teddington Physical Instruments Calibration and Verification Office. Tested in July 1919.
