Official torch of the XIV Summer Olympic Games in London, 1948. Aluminum-iron alloy with openwork Olympic rings on the bowl and embossed inscriptions: "Olympia to London, with thanks to the bearer". H. 41 cm Provenance: the current owner's great uncle was a torchbearer in 1948: M. Maurice MOLIA The flame set off from Olympia on July 17, 1948, and was carried 3,365 km by 1,416 torchbearers, arriving at Wembley Stadium in London on July 29, 1948.
