Travel set with burr wood veneer, embellished with an escutc - Lot 378
Travel set with burr wood veneer, embellished with an escutcheon on the top, corners, edges, lock and retractable brass handles, lined with red morocco and decorated with a petit iron frieze of palmettes, foliage and pearls.
The lid features a slot for a mirror, missing here.
In the lower part, two round crystal flasks with vermeil stoppers, a glass, a rectangular pot, five jars (three with rosettes and vermeil stoppers), a funnel, an eye-washer, a coffee pot with wooden side handle where the cup used to be, two wax cases (one forming an unmarked seal).
In the center, a set of trays revealing, in order:
- two razors, a pair of tweezers, a point, a gimlet, a pair of scissors, an ear and toothpick and a brush, a knife, a pair of scissors, a pair of scissors.
- a brush, a knife, a penknife, a needle-holder(?), a sharpener - two items are missing from this tray.
- two hooks, a ring, a fountain pen and a tongue scraper
- an oval vermeil basin
- a coffee spoon, a hook (boot-screw?), a corkscrew, a brush trimmed with vermeil
- a porcelain saucer and a shaving brush set in vermeil
